Study: 'Collecting solid evidence to assess the needs to be addressed by Interreg cross-border cooperation programmes'

European Commission Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy

  • Start Date: December 2015

  • Status: Complete

The overall goal of the study is to assess the needs to be addressed by cross-border cooperation (CBC) programmes, developing a comprehensive inventory of statistical data that could support the assessment and mapping of the crucial territorial integration needs of border regions. t33 is directly responsible for mapping the needs and potentials in the border regions by making reference to the programme documents and literature available, and weighting the identified needs by using the following criteria: suitability of the CBC programmes to address the needs (subsidiarity principle) and suitability of the CBC programmes to address the needs in terms of magnitude of intervention (using as a benchmark the average value of 2007-2013 cross-border projects in similar fields to the policy area of the needs). In addition, and of major importance for future learning, the study will provide suggestions for the next programming period.
