Pietro is a senior expert in evaluation and EU comparative studies, with extensive experience in project cycle management. Since 2010, he has provided expert evaluation services for ETC and ERDF mainstream programmes at both national and regional levels, where he has served as both coordinator and expert. He is highly skilled in qualitative evaluation techniques, including focus groups with programme stakeholders and the preparation of case studies.

Pietro’s thematic focus lies in culture and tourism, exemplified by his coordination of the thematic evaluation of the Italian national programme ‘Culture and Development 2014-2020’. His geographical expertise spans the Alpine region and the Mediterranean, with a particular emphasis on the Adriatic and Ionian macroregional area.

In the realm of EU comparative studies, Pietro led a four-year framework contract with the European Committee of the Regions, delivering socio-economic studies from the perspective of local and regional authorities. This role provided him with in-depth insights into multi-level governance. His work has covered a range of topics, including performance indicators for cohesion policy programmes and SME access to public procurement, notably coordinating a study for DG GROW.

Currently, Pietro is focused on the functioning of ETC programmes, where he continues to serve as coordinator for both evaluation and technical assistance services.
